About Paul Thames

Two founders, decades of superyacht technology, one house of light.

The story

Years across shipyards, integrators and technology suppliers taught us two things: where quality really comes from, and how much of it gets lost between the factory and the project. Every layer between the two adds time and margin, and takes away control.

Paul Thames did not begin as a lighting house. We started broader and let the work decide: of everything we offered, lighting was what the market kept asking for, and what we did best. Then a happy coincidence sealed it. Just as we narrowed our focus, LEDlumis started trading, and the match was obvious: a factory-direct supplier with real engineering depth, and a team that knew how to bring it into superyacht projects. So we stopped hedging and built the house: three levels of light, from the architectural essentials every project needs to fixtures that exist only once, all drawing on the same direct line to the source and the same superyacht discipline.

Maritime is where we learned the standard. If it survives salt, vibration and an owner's eye, it is ready for shore. Shore is where we are heading: architecture, hospitality and residential work that wants the same grade, speed and customisation, without the layers.

The source

LEDlumis is our strategic sourcing partner and where most of what we deliver comes from: factory-direct supply, engineering access most suppliers never get, pricing without layers, delivery in weeks.

Where a project calls for something outside their range, our other direct sources close the gap.

Elsewhere we just say “the source”. LEDlumis is who we mean.

Who We Are

Edwin Edelenbos

Edwin Edelenbos

Technical Partner

Edwin has spent nearly two decades on the technical systems inside the largest superyachts in the world: lighting, AV, IT, security and control. He was a project manager and later CTO at Van Berge Henegouwen, Manager of Innovation at Oceanco, and project lead on multiple Feadship newbuilds.

He has also worked directly on owner's teams, representing owner interests on both refits and newbuilds. Having sat on the integrator, shipyard and owner sides of the same table, he knows how differently one project looks from each seat, and what owners need from a technical advisor.

At Paul Thames he concentrates on lighting: system architecture, technical analysis, and turning complicated requirements into something that works on board. His degrees in Industrial Design Engineering (BSc) and Design for Interaction (MSc), both from TU Delft, are why he can hold a conversation with a design team, a shipyard and an owner's representative without a translator in between.
